“We kept the records because someone will ask one day”
A member of a community documentation group on why they carried on recording when nobody appeared to be listening.
“At the beginning we wrote things down because we did not know what else to do. Nobody came. No one asked us anything for a long time.”
“Then people did ask — a lawyer, later someone from outside. And we had the names, the dates, the places. Everything was there because we had kept it.”
