Emergency protection fund reopens for defenders at risk
Small, fast grants for relocation, digital security and legal costs are available again to human rights defenders in immediate danger.
The fund exists for the days when a defender has to move quickly and cannot wait for a grant cycle. Decisions are made within seventy-two hours, by a small committee, on the basis of risk rather than profile.

- Relocation and temporary accommodation
- Replacing compromised devices, and digital security support
- Legal representation and court costs
- Medical care arising from an attack
How to apply
Applications come through a member organisation, which keeps the number of people who know a defender is moving as small as possible. Contact us and we will route you to the right member.
